”Dad… Alexas marital status has nothing to do with you. What are you here for? ” Lucas repeated the question as bluntly as he could.

”Alright. Remember, my best friends daughter Darcy? I want you to get married to her! ” Ethan said.

”No, actually, I don remember her at all! ” Lucas said. he could not believe that his father was getting round to this. Getting married as soon as he came back? Does his father still think that he is that kid who will do Whatever he wants?

”You…..! ” Ethan was so angry that his chest hurt. He knew that Lucas probably remembered because he is always bringing Darcy to the company. He is just doing this to annoy him.

”Whatever. I don care if you remember or not. Im telling you right now. You are going to get married to her. Darcy is the daughter of my best friend. Ive watched her grow up. She is a good girl. She is the perfect match for you! ” Ethan said. The only thing that he did not say was that Darcy is so much better than Alexa. But just because he did not say it did not mean that he was not thinking about it.

Because Lucas was still caught up in his feelings for Alexa and he refused to budge no matter how much he advised him, Ethan decided to put aside his plans to let Lucas and Darcy get married. But now that Alexa is married, Ethan is the happiest person. Because that means that he could set up his son with Darcy. He could get the perfect daughter in law that he wants.

Lucas laughed sarcastically when he heard what his father said. In fact, he could already tell from a long time what his father was trying to do. But he thought that since whatever he did not affect him in any way, he could very well just let them continue to dream.

But now his father wants him to get married to Darcy? Just because he says so? What makes him think that he will do just that?

”Dad…what makes you think that Im going to get married just because you tell me to get married? ” Lucas asked. There was a sneer on his face.

”What else do you want now?! The woman they you love so much is already married! You left everything and went to follow her in that place. But despite that, she still refused to look at you! What else do you want now?! Shes already married! Don you think that you should be giving up now? ” Ethan asked. He was exasperated.

This son of his is talented in the business world…but he is also very talented in making him angry!

Lucas pursed his lips without saying anything. He knew that since Alexa is already married to the person that she loves he should give up now. But giving up did not mean that he could forget Alexa. And it definitely did not mean that he would accept some other woman to marry. Never!

Lucas suddenly felt exhausted. He just wanted to spend an uneventful evening. But his father just had to show up to crash all of his plans. Why can this old man just give him a break?

”Dad ..no matter what, I won get married. If thats what you came to talk to me about, you can just leave it now. I don want to get married at all. Please let me be ” Lucas said. He wasn in the mood to argue with his father like this.

”Lucas you ….why don you want to get married to Darcy? Before you had someone that you love. You said that you love that woman Alexa. But she can even see you no matter what you do. Don you think that you should give up now? For goodness sake shes already married. You can be thinking of stealing someones wife now can you? ” Ethan asked.

Lucas ”… ”

The truth was that he did think of bringing Alexa away. He had thought up of all kinds of crazy ways to keep Alexa to himself. But he knew that she would never be happy if he did something like that to her. So he dropped the idea.

”Ive never really tried to steal someones wife before. Don you think that it would be fun? ” Lucas asked with a grin on his face.

Ethan ”….!!!!! ”

Now he was convinced! Lucas has gone crazy!

”Lucas, lets be realistic here. Even if Alexa isn married, even if she agrees to marry you, what do you think is going to come out of your marriage with her? Such a woman… theres no way that she can be a match for a man like yourself. Someone like Darcy is whom you should marry. Her family has a place in the business world. Shell be able to help you expand the company. A husband and wife should help each other. And Darcy is the perfect woman who can help you! ” Ethan said, trying to convince his son.

Lucas suddenly burst out laughing. ”Darcy can help me? So you are asking me to use a woman to climb to the top? Like you did? ” Lucas asked, sneering at his father.

”You Lucas…..I want you to know that I had no other choice than to do what I did back then! ” Ethan asked. This was a topic that he did not want to touch at all. Who knew this son of his is going to bring it up again?

Ethan knew that Lucas had always been distant from him because of what happened with his mother. But he did not regret the choices he made back then. He would not have made it this far if he did not make those choices.

”Of course. You didn have another choice. You wanted to use a woman to climb to the top. Since you already chose your career over everything else, why didn you stick with your choices?! Who do you think you are trying to play?! ” Lucas yelled.
